%X The paper briefly examines the concept of frontier in connection Siberia. The author attempts to find out whether there existed a real myth of the frontier in Siberia, similar to the one at the American West. The influence of this myth towards public understanding and perception of Siberia is discussed. Negative and positive images of Siberia and Siberian dwellers (the ＆sibiryaki＊) are described.
