%X This article develops the theoretical notion of geoconcept as a new focus of geographical research. Geoconcept refers to any place that is continuously significant for a given community (geoconcept = image + toponym + territory). Geoconcepts are the products of the conceptualization of territory under the influence of science, arts, politics and media. The article discusses prospects for further research on regional and local geoconcepts in Russian cultural space.
