It depends on the blood pumped from the heart and elasticity of the blood vessels and varies with age and activity. Hypertension is defined as a diastolic blood pressure of 90mm Hg or higher and systolic blood pressure of 140mm hg or higher. Experimental models of human disease are used to study pathophysiological factors involved in hypertension and assess antihypertensive agents. Today different strains of rats with genetic hypertension are available and in most laboratories, therapeutic studies on hypertension are carried out on these models. %K blood pressure %K hypertension %K experimental models. %U http://www.ijpbs.com/data/JULY-SEPT%202011/335-340.pdf
