%X Dentro de la familia Hylidae disponemos de informaci車n sobre las secuencias de osificaci車n craneal para menos del 4.0% de sus miembros. El presente trabajo describe la secuencia de osificaci車n craneal de Phyllomedusa boliviana. El patr車n general de osificaci車n es similar a lo reportado para otras especies de la familia, pero existen algunas diferencias importantes tales como la osificaci車n tard赤a de los pr車oticos y la osificaci車n premetam車rfica de neopalatino, v車mer, cuadradeyugal, ptengoides y columela. El lento desarrollo ulterior de la osificaci車n resulta en juveniles con cr芍neos extensamente cartilaginosos. Characteristics of the cranial ossification in Phyllomedusa boliviana (Anura: Hylidae): the ossification sequences is known for less than 4.0% of the known taxa of Hylidae. Herein, we describe the ossification sequence of Phyllomedusa boliviana. The overall pattern of ossification in this species is similar to that reported for other hylids. but it shows some important differences among which are the delayed ossification of the prootic, and the pre-metamorphic ossification of neopalatine, vomer, quadratojugal. pterygoid, and columella. Moreover, the subsequent slow development of the cranial centers of ossification results in juveniles with extensive cartilaginous skulls.
