Its stem, bark and leaves possesses glycosides, large quantities of flavonoids, tannins and minerals. Flavonoids have been found to posses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and lipid lowering effects whereas glycosides are cardiotonic, therefore making Terminalia arjuna distinctive amongst currently used medicinal plants.
