%X There was a shortage of teachers for preclinical subjects in medical colleges in India. This is particularly severe in the specialty of Physiology, Anatomy. Now in the present time, there is not that much shortage, as Physiology is chosen as a career by students, but it is often noted that graduates with lower ranks in postgraduate entrance test pick Physiology as a last resort. There is urgent need to enhance awareness among students regarding utility of physiology in clinical fields and various research possibilities. The present study was conducted in Govt. Medical College, Miraj, Maharashtra, India. The aim of the study was to evaluate the opinion of medical students regarding Physiology as a subject, application in various clinical fields and finally its usefulness as a future career option. In this study, 75 interns and 25 postgraduates of various disciplines. Each student was explained the objective of the study and a questionnaire containing 12 items was given to them. The present study concludes that; the time allotted for training physiology is one year which is sufficient; involvement of Physiologist in clinical teaching and physiological investigations is required. Better research and job opportunities should be provided. Research should be need based for India. There should be periodical training courses for teachers of all medical subjects to improve teaching skills. Some medical education courses must be compulsory.
