%X The aim of this study is to rescue the artistic production of the Portuguese Alfredo Cortez (1880-1946), still little known and studied by the Brazilian academic criticism. His more representative play is Gladiadores (1934): innovative work that breaks through the traditional dramatic models and proposes a renewal for the Portuguese drama.
