%X This paper addresses three specific areas in the relationship between e-learning and the approaches to learning used by higher education students. It starts by examining how these approaches find expression in learning situations which involve e-learning. It then goes on to assess the extent to which e-learning is a factor in the learning approaches adopted by students. Finally, it discusses ways in which active and in-depth learning skills can be directly developed via e-learning.
