%X La Comunidad de Pr芍ctica para la Integraci車n de Tecnolog赤as Emergentes (CITE) tiene el prop車sito de integrar las tecnolog赤as de informaci車n y comunicaci車n (TIC＊s) emergentes en los servicios que ofrecen las bibliotecas acad谷micas de la Universidad de Puerto Rico. El prop車sito de esta investigaci車n es explorar y describir la percepci車n de los bibliotecarios sobre la forma en que las actividades realizadas por los miembros de CITE han impactado los servicios bibliotecarios. Se tomar芍 en consideraci車n tanto la percepci車n del personal bibliotecario que labora en las bibliotecas de la Universidad de Puerto Rico como en otras instituciones de educaci車n superior. Esta investigaci車n permitir芍 al bibliotecario conocer las iniciativas desarrolladas en las bibliotecas acad谷micas y p迆blicas y al mismo tiempo ofrecer芍 unas recomendaciones sobre estrategias b芍sicas en la integraci車n las herramientas sociales al servicio bibliotecario. En la actualidad esta documentaci車n no se encuentra disponible, por tal raz車n, este trabajo es 迆nico en Puerto Rico. La investigaci車n contribuir芍 en la creaci車n de una base de conocimientos com迆n para los bibliotecarios de Puerto Rico y servir芍 como referente para motivar al profesional de la informaci車n en el uso e integraci車n de las tecnolog赤as emergentes en los servicios de informaci車n. The Community of Practice for the Integration of Emerging Technologies (CITE aims to help integrate emerging information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the services offered by the academic libraries at the University of Puerto Rico. The purpose of this research is to explore and describe the perception of librarians on how the activities of CITE members have impacted library services. It will consider both, the perception of library staff working in the libraries of the University of Puerto Rico, and other institutions of higher education. This research will allow the librarian to know the initiatives developed in academic and public libraries and also provide recommendations on basic strategies for integrating social tools to the library services. Currently this documentation is not available, for that reason, this work is unique in Puerto Rico. The research will contribute in creating a common knowledge base for librarians from Puerto Rico and will serve as a benchmark to motivate information professionals in the use and integration of emerging technologies in information services.
