%X The aim of this paper is to analyse descriptively in a brief way ten extracts of G. K. Chesterton¡¯s ¡®The Invisible Man¡¯ short story translated by L¨²cia Santaella (1997) and Carlos Anc¨ºde Nougu¨¦ (2006), based on Van den Broeck and Toury¡¯s theories which considered metaphorical expression analysis from its context. The methodology for the translation analysis is supported by Lambert e Gorp¡¯s proposed scheme. The main aim of this article is to observe the translational practice which should take into consideration conditional social and cultural factors in order to reach the target-culture reader making sense to the translated text as well as bringing back the ¡®original¡¯ masterpiece published in Europe in 1914 to Brazil in 1997 and 2006 plenty of target-reader¡¯s social and cultural features and also the source reader¡¯s.
