%X Resumen: Como 谷mile Durkheim, Max Weber, Werner Sombart, Georg Simmel y Vilfredo Pareto et al., Ferdinand T nnies (1855-1936) perteneci車 a una generaci車n de acad谷micos que llegaron a ser los padres fundadores de la sociolog赤a moderna. T nnies us車 el contractualismo de Hobbes para concebir una concepci車n propia de la sociedad moderna y sus deficiencias y, para ello, hizo suya la noci車n de estado de naturaleza. En lugar de una estructura vac赤a o una mera suposici車n para llevar a cabo un experimento mental, esta noci車n debe ser reconocida como una entidad social, definida por un modelo deliberado, que T nnies llam車 Wesenwille (voluntad esencial), distingui谷ndola en contraste con Willk邦r (arbitrio, que m芍s tarde renombr車 como K邦rwille, albedr赤o), dominante en la sociedad moderna. Estos dos patrones deliberados est芍n en el centro de dos entidades sociales: comunidad y sociedad respectivamente, las que figuran en el t赤tulo de su famoso libro. En este art赤culo quedar芍 demostrado c車mo surgi車 esta idea b芍sica y con qu谷 tipo de falacias ha tenido que cargar. As赤 mismo, c車mo el libro deton車 un debate todav赤a vigente. Abstract: Like Emile Durkheim, Max Weber Werner Sombart, Georg Simmel and Vilfredo Pareto et al., Ferdinand T nnies (1855-1936) belonged to a generation of scholars, who became founding fathers of modern sociology. He used Hobbes＊ contractualism as a devise for a proper understanding of modern society and its deficiencies, and took issue, however, with Hobbes＊ notion of the natural state. This notion can not be conceived as an empty shell or as a mere assumption to carry out a mental experiment. Rather, it must be regarded as a social entity, defined by a volitional pattern which T nnies called Wesenwille (the essential will) in contradistinction to Willk邦r (the arbitrary will, later named K邦rwille) dominating modern society, the two volitional patterns are at the core of two social entities: community and society, respectively, which became the title of T nnies famous book, and the sequence of two social entities. In this paper, it will be demonstrated how this basic idea came about and with which fallacies it is burdened. It will also be shown how the book triggered of an ongoing debate.
