%X Fish are the most diverse group among vertebrates, but the real scale of such diversity is still far from being well known. Brazil has the largest hydrographic networks in the world, and due to this, the studies carried out in this area were insufficient to determine its diversity. The purpose of this work is to carry out a survey of the studies related to fish diversity of the upper Paran¨¢ River basin, which is considered the most surveyed one in terms of Brazilian hydrographic basins, in order to serve as a source of information for proposals of studies in non-surveyed regions. It is noticed that there are few studies in the northern watershed of the basin, in the States of Minas Gerais, Goi¨¢s and the Federal District, besides the western watershed, in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. Os peixes constituem o grupo mais diversificado entre os vertebrados, por¨¦m a real grandeza dessa diversidade ainda est¨¢ longe de ser conhecida. O Brasil possui as maiores redes hidrogr¨¢ficas do mundo, e devido a isso, os estudos realizados nessa grande ¨¢rea foram insuficientes para determinar sua diversidade. Este trabalho tem por objetivo realizar um levantamento dos estudos relacionados a diversidade de peixes da bacia hidrogr¨¢fica do alto rio Paran¨¢, considerada a mais investigada em termos de bacias hidrogr¨¢ficas brasileiras, a fim de servir como fonte de informa  o para propostas de estudos em regi es ainda n o investigadas. Nota-se que ainda s o escassos os estudos na vertente norte da bacia, nos estados de Minas Gerais, Goi¨¢s e Distrito Federal, al¨¦m da vertente oeste, no estado do Mato Grosso do Sul.
