%X Cet article propose une lecture critique de l¡¯approche n¨¦or¨¦publicaine de la reconnaissance et du projet d¡¯une ¨¦conomie de l¡¯estime, d¨¦velopp¨¦ par Ph. Pettit et G. Brennan. Il vise ¨¤ montrer en quoi la conception de la reconnaissance qui est celle de ce dernier est trop ¨¦troite, dans la mesure o¨´ elle va de pair avec une analyse insuffisante des conditions de la visibilit¨¦ sociale des performances et capacit¨¦s des agents, ainsi que de la mani¨¨re dont les luttes de reconnaissance peuvent contribuer ¨¤ une telle visibilit¨¦. Ce texte montre ainsi en quoi il convient d¡¯¨¦largir la conception n¨¦or¨¦publicaine de la reconnaissance. Il vise aussi ¨¤ d¨¦gager les limites du projet d¡¯une ¨¦conomie de l¡¯estime, en montrant ses lacunes eu ¨¦gard ¨¤ une r¨¦flexion suffisante sur les conditions d¡¯un pluralisme des standards d¡¯estime.This article offers a critical analysis of the neorepublican approach of recognition and of the project of an economy of esteem developed by P. Pettit and G. Brennan. I aim to show that Pettit¡¯s approach of recognition is too narrow : as a matter of fact, it lacks a satisfying analysis of the social visibility of agents¡¯ capacities and achievements ; it also lacks an analysis of the way in which struggles for recognition can guarantee access to social visibility. I also try to show that the neorepublican conception of recognition needs to be more inclusive. But I also point out the limits of the project of an economy of esteem, in particular how this project lacks an analysis about the conditions of the plurality of norms of esteem.
