%X Grazalema revisit¨¦e : changement social et culturel dans un village de la sierra andalouse. Nous essayons, dans cet article, de pr¨¦ciser le contexte intellectuel et scientifique de l¡¯¨¦tude de Grazalema par J. Pitt-Rivers ainsi que les conditions dans lesquelles cette enqu¨ºte a ¨¦t¨¦ r¨¦alis¨¦e. La dictature franquiste qui soup onnait toute pr¨¦sence ¨¦trang¨¨re, a, en particulier, compliqu¨¦ singuli¨¨rement la tache de l¡¯ethnologue. Nous nous sommes ¨¦galement int¨¦ress¨¦s ¨¤ l¡¯impact de l¡¯ uvre dans le milieu universitaire espagnol. L¡¯originalit¨¦ de la pens¨¦e de Julian Pitt-Rivers, l¡¯absence d¡¯¨¦tudes anthropologiques en Espagne, ¨¤ cette p¨¦riode ont probablement ¨¦t¨¦ ¨¤ l¡¯origine de pol¨¦miques, parfois assez violente autour de ses travaux, pol¨¦miques que nous exposons dans ce texte. Toutefois l¡¯ uvre de Julian Pitt Rivers, plus de cinquante ans apr¨¨s sa parution garde tout son int¨¦r¨ºt. Grazalema Revisited: Social and Cultural Change in a Sierra Andalusia Village. In this article we set out to specify the intellectual and scientific context of J. Pitt-Rivers¡¯ study of Grazalema, as well as the conditions under which the survey was carried out. The Francoist dictatorship was suspicious of any foreigner¡¯s presence and made the anthropologist¡¯s task particularly complicated. We also take a look at the work¡¯s impact on the Spanish academic environment. The originality of Julian Pitt-Rivers¡¯ thought and the lack of anthropological studies in Spain at the time were no doubt responsible for the controversy ¨C quite violent, at times ¨C surrounding his work, controversy which we shall be discussing in this article. Nevertheless, even over fifty years after it first appeared, Julian Pitt Rivers¡¯ work is still of great interest.
