%X Le Fonds Marcel-Griaule, un objet de recherche ¨¤ partager ou un patrimoine ¨¤ restituer ? L¡¯ouverture du fonds Griaule aux chercheurs des soci¨¦t¨¦s ou des r¨¦gions observ¨¦es aurait un double effet b¨¦n¨¦fique sur la recherche : elle permettrait une meilleure compr¨¦hension des donn¨¦es archiv¨¦es, notamment grace ¨¤ la prise en compte du poids des informateurs ou du contexte local dans la production de ces donn¨¦es ; mais elle permettrait ¨¦galement ¨¤ ces chercheurs d¡¯interroger eux-m¨ºmes leur histoire et leur culture, en exploitant les photographies et les ¨¦crits de ce fonds. Produites ¨¤ l¡¯origine grace ¨¤ une collaboration entre des chercheurs ¨¦trangers et leurs h tes ou leurs informateurs locaux, les archives ethnographiques ne sont pas tant un patrimoine ¨¤ restituer qu¡¯un objet de recherche ou une source d¡¯informations ¨¤ partager. Analys¨¦es et exploit¨¦es en commun, ou selon des points de vue compl¨¦mentaires, elles ¨¦chapperaient ainsi ¨¤ toute tentative d¡¯appropriation. Une telle d¨¦marche aurait donc l¡¯avantage de d¨¦samorcer les enjeux politiques ou patrimoniaux autour de ces documents ethnographiques qui, en tout ¨¦tat de cause, ne doivent jamais ¨ºtre confondus avec les archives des soci¨¦t¨¦s ¨¦tudi¨¦es. The Marcel-Griaule Archive: a research to be shared or an heritage to be returned? Making the Griaule collection available to researchers of the societies or regions observed would have a doubly beneficial effect on research ¨C it would allow a better comprehension of archived data, especially by taking into account the significance of informants or the local context in producing this data ¨C and it would also allow researchers to examine for themselves their history and culture, by using the photographs and writings in this collection. Originally produced thanks to collaboration between foreign researchers and their hosts or local informants, the ethnographical archives are not so much a heritage to be restituted as research matter or a source of information to be shared. If analysed and used in common, or according to complementary points of view, they will then escape any attempt at appropriation. Such measures would have the advantage of defusing the political or legacy issues surrounding these anthropological documents which, in any event, should never be confused with the archives of the societies studied.
