%X La trag¨¦die M¨¦d¨¦e de Max Rouquette et ses repr¨¦sentations originales par le metteur en sc¨¨ne Martinelli offrent un vaste champ ¨¤ l¡¯¨¦tude des ¨¦changes transculturels. Le texte est d¡¯abord ¨¦crit en occitan puis traduit en fran ais par l¡¯auteur lui-m¨ºme, qui exploite entre autres les potentialit¨¦s de cette langue ancienne. Qui plus est, sa M¨¦d¨¦e appartient au groupe social des gitanes. La mise en sc¨¨ne de Martinelli supprime cet aspect, et fait se d¨¦rouler la trag¨¦die dans un espace africain. Les acteurs et les musiciens sont Burkinab¨¦s. Les choeurs sont chant¨¦s par des griottes, groupe social d¡¯importance majeure, d¨¦tendeur de tradition en Afrique. Les parties chorales sont traduites et chant¨¦es en dioula, langue africaine, et sont accompagn¨¦es de musique et d¡¯instruments africains. Le texte et ses repr¨¦sentations r¨¦alisent par des moyens sc¨¦niques des dialogues entre l¡¯ancien et le moderne, l¡¯Occident et l¡¯Afrique, transposant esth¨¦tiques, arts, situations et conditions humaines. Max Rouquette¡¯s tragedy M¨¦d¨¦e and its original representations by the stage director Martinelli offer a vast field for the study of transcultural exchanges. After having been written in Occitan, the text has been translated into French by the author himself, who exploits, among other things, the potential of this ancient language. Furthermore, his M¨¦d¨¦e belongs to the social group of gypsies. The staging of Martinelli deletes this element, and moves the tragedy to an African space. The actors and musicians are from Burkina Faso, the chorals are sung by griottes, a social group of great significance, keeper of African traditions. The chorals are translated and sung in dioula, an African language, and they are accompanied by African music and instruments. The text and its representations create, through its scenic means, dialogues between the old and the new, the West and Africa, transposing aesthetic values, arts, situations and human conditions.
