From privileges to demotion %A Hac¨¨ne Merani %J Revue des Mondes Musulmans et de la M¨¦diterran¨¦e %D 2012 %I Universit¨¦ de Provence %R 10.4000/remmm.2729 %X Following the fall of oil prices in the mid 80's, and the implementation of structural economic reforms in the 90's, the social and professional situation of executive and middle management staff in Algerian public enterprises seriously deteriorated. Managers being less affected by the crisis, our study deals mainly with intermediate executives. During the 70's and the 80's, they enjoyed a comfortable situation. Theirs was a mission of control within State-owned enterprises, and they did not participate in the effective creation of value. As a counterpart, they were granted a portion of the oil revenues by State authorities in the form of salaries, as well as various privileges such as free or inexpensive housing, cars, etc. Through various accounts, our article explains the great difficulties thousands had to face as a result of these adjustment policies, from an economic, as well as a psychological and moral perspective. Suite ¨¤ la mise en uvre des r¨¦formes ¨¦conomiques structurelles engag¨¦es par le pays ¨¤ partir des ann¨¦es 1990, dans le contexte de crise d ¨¤ la chute des cours de p¨¦trole survenue au milieu des ann¨¦es 1980, la situation professionnelle et sociale des cadres des entreprises publiques en Alg¨¦rie a connu une grave d¨¦t¨¦rioration. Les cadres dirigeants ayant ¨¦t¨¦ comparativement peu touch¨¦s, l¡¯¨¦tude porte principalement sur les cadres de niveaux interm¨¦diaires. Destin¨¦s par le pouvoir ¨¤ remplir une tache de contr le au sein des entreprises appartenant ¨¤ l¡¯Etat et ne participant donc pas ¨¤ la cr¨¦ation effective de valeur, ceux-ci b¨¦n¨¦ficiaient dans les ann¨¦es 1970 et 1980 d¡¯une situation confortable. En contrepartie de la tache effectu¨¦e, les pouvoirs publics leur accordaient une part dans la rente p¨¦troli¨¨re, sous forme de salaires, mais aussi d¡¯avantages divers (logement, voiture, etc). A l¡¯aide de plusieurs indices, cette contribution montre combien les r¨¦percussions de ces ajustements ont ¨¦t¨¦ dures pour des milliers d¡¯entre eux, tant sur le plan ¨¦conomique que sur les plans psychologique et social. %U http://remmm.revues.org/2729
