%X What distinguishes transculturality and how can it be analyzed as an academic discourse? Starting with Wolfgang Welsch's definition of ¡°transcultural¡±, this contribution first reproduces the historical evolution of the term from Fernando Ortiz to post- and transmodernism. This application-oriented reflection on characteristics of transculturality clarifies, how transcultural studies have developed from a critical consideration of multi- and especially intercultural processes, and which position they have taken in current theoretical debates. Their didactical relevance is demonstrated in the example of the Franco-romance studies in German speaking areas, where it appears to be curricularly overdue to have an extensive critical look at the world-wide project of international francophonia as well as at the paradigm of hybrid exchange processes between the heterogeneous cultures. Qu¡¯est-ce qui distingue la transculturalit¨¦ et comment ce ph¨¦nom¨¨ne peut-il ¨ºtre analys¨¦ comme discours acad¨¦mique? En insistant d¡¯abord sur la d¨¦finition que propose Wolfgang Welsch du transculturel, cette contribution pr¨¦sente dans un premier temps l¡¯¨¦volution historique du terme propos¨¦ par Fernando Ortiz jusqu¡¯au post- et transmodernisme. Cette r¨¦flexion sur les caract¨¦ristiques de la transculturalit¨¦, qui vise ¨¤ une application du terme, clarifie comment les ¨¦tudes transculturelles se sont d¨¦velopp¨¦es ¨¤ partir de processus multi- et en particulier interculturels, et quelle est leur position dans les d¨¦bats th¨¦oriques actuels. La pertinence didactique des ¨¦tudes transculturelles est ensuite montr¨¦e ¨¤ l¡¯aide de l¡¯exemple des ¨¦tudes franco-romanes dans des r¨¦gions germanophones, o¨´ les programmes d¡¯¨¦tude tardent ¨¤ pr¨¦senter une vue critique sur le projet mondial de la francophonie ainsi que sur les processus d¡¯¨¦change hybrides entre des cultures h¨¦t¨¦rog¨¨nes.
