%X OBJETIVO: El fundamento central de este estudio estuvo dirigido a determinar las estrategias de afrontamiento empleadas por los padres de ni os y adolescentes con c芍ncer, debido a que sus hijos se encuentran en constante cambio f赤sico, social y psicol車gico, producto de la enfermedad que padecen y los procedimientos m谷dicos a los cuales deben ser sometidos. M谷TODO: El tipo y nivel de investigaci車n fue descriptivo de campo; la poblaci車n estuvo compuesta por padres que asisten al Hospital de Especialidades Pedi芍tricas de Maracaibo, seleccion芍ndose una muestra no probabil赤stica de 118 sujetos de ni os con diagn車stico reciente, en tratamiento y fuera de tratamiento. Los datos fueron obtenidos por medio del cuestionario de estimaci車n del afrontamiento. RESULTADOS: Los resultados fueron analizados con estad赤sticas descriptivas inferenciales. Se determin車 que la estrategia com迆nmente empleada por los padres de ni os y adolescentes con c芍ncer fue la centrada en el problema, as赤 como las dimensiones afrontamiento religioso y la reinterpretaci車n positiva. CONCLUSI車N: Se observaron diferencias estad赤sticamente significativas entre los grupos, con un estad赤stico igual a 0,033 (P<0,05) en la dimensi車n retraimiento, la cual fue menor en el grupo de padres de los hijos que se encuentran fuera de tratamiento, y 0,00 (P<0,05) en la dimensi車n de aceptaci車n, la cual se encuentra predominante en el grupo de tratamiento y fuera de tratamiento y negaci車n 0,00 (P<0,05) se encontr車 exacerbada en el grupo de padres de ni os y adolescentes con diagn車stico reciente. OBJECTIVE: The central basis of this study was to determine the coping strategies used by the parents of children and adolescents with diagnostic of cancer, because their children are constantly changing in physical aspects, social and psychological, resulting from disease sufferers and procedures physicians who must be subjected parents being the main figure of support and emotional support. METHOD: The type and level of field research was descriptive, the population was comprised of parents attending to the Pediatric Specialty Hospital of Maracaibo, selecting a probability sample of 118 subjects of children with newly diagnosed, in treatment and off treatment. The data were obtained through the estimation of coping questionnaire. RESULTS: The all results were analyzed with a descriptive statistics inferential.
