%0 Journal Article %T RELACIONES ENTRE LA PERSONALIDAD Y EL AFRONTAMIENTO EN ESTUDIANTES PREUNIVERSITARIOS %A M¨®nica Cassaretto %J Revista Vanguardia Psicol¨®gica %D 2011 %I %X This study analyzes the relations between personality traits and coping styles and strategies in precollege students. This is a correlated and ex-post fact research design with 342 students, who were coursing the summer semester of preparation for applying to a private university in Lima. The age of the sample range from 16 to 20 years old (17.36 of mean and 0.93 of standard deviation); 161 (47.08%) were women and 181 (52.92%) were men. The instruments used for the research were a socio demographic sheet; the NEO Personality Inventory Revised: NEO PI-R (Costa and McCrae, 1992) and, the Coping Estimation Inventory: COPE (Carver, Scheier and Weintraub, 1989). The results showed important and significant associations among personality and coping styles as a positive relation between neuroticism with maladaptative coping styles; extraversion with emotion focus coping style and; consciousness with problem focus coping style and also was found a negative association among consciousness and maladaptative coping style.
