%X This study is centered on the figure of the so-called ※Adulterous Woman§, located in the south portal of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Although it seems evident that this work was installed in the tympanum in a scarcely orthodox manner 〞proof of which are the mutilations it suffered〞 and it is difficult to establish its relationship with the principal theme (the Temptations of Christ), it has integrated〞 itself into the sculptural group, as demonstrated by the art historians who have managed to carry out a coherent reading of this relief within the ensemble. The idea that the piece served as a ※backdrop§ for a portion of the marriage ceremonies carried out ※ante ostium templi§ is defended here. Este trabajo se centra en la figura de la llamada ※Mujer Ad迆ltera§, situada en la portada sur de la catedral de Santiago de Compostela. Aunque parece evidente que dicha pieza fue instalada en el t赤mpano de manera poco ortodoxa 〞como prueban las mutilaciones que sufri車〞, y que su relaci車n con el tema principal del mismo (las Tentaciones de Cristo) es dif赤cil de establecer, lo cierto es que acab車 por ※integrarse§ en el grupo escult車rico, como lo demuestra el que diferentes historiadores del arte hayan encontrado la posibilidad de realizar una lectura coherente del relieve dentro del conjunto. Aqu赤 se defiende que, efectivamente, la pieza se convirti車 en ※tel車n de fondo§ para parte de las ceremonias matrimoniales llevadas a cabo ※ante ostium templi§.
