%X Este estudio pretende, desde una perspectiva pragm芍tica y cr赤tica, mostrar, por una parte, c車mo un grupo de hablantes chilenos utiliza estas estrategias discursivas para argumentar, cuestionar y emitir juicios de valor que comprometen su sistema de creencias respecto de la instituci車n y de los grupos a los que est芍n afiliados y, por otra, discutir sus efectos, considerando que todo acto de habla implica una amenaza y que, en consecuencia, se constituye en un acto de poder. Los intensificadores y los atenuadores son recursos discursivos que, en la conversaci車n coloquial, se vinculan al concepto de fuerza argumentativa y configuran estrategias para que el YO refuerce y haga valer su intenci車n de habla en forma cooperativa y cort谷s o, en ocasiones, mitigue lo expresado con el fin de mantener el equilibrio de la interacci車n. Para sustentar emp赤ricamente el estudio, utilizo el corpus de interacciones verbales entre j車venes universitarios, recolectado para la realizaci車n del proyecto n迆cleo "La interacci車n verbal de estudiantes universitarios de Chile y de Argentina" del programa "El espa ol de Chile y de Argentina" (ECLAR), que re迆ne a acad谷micos de la Pontificia Universidad Cat車lica de Chile y de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina. (This study shows, from a pragmatic and critical perspective, how a group of Chilean speakers use discourse strategies to argue, question and emit value judgments that compromise their belief systems with respect to the institutionand to the groups with which they are affiliated. It also discusses its effects, considering that all speech acts imply a threat and that, consequently, constitute in themselves an act of empowering. Intensifiers and mitigating markers are discourse resources that in colloquial conversation are linked to the concept of argumentative force and they form strategies in which ＆I＊ is reinforced and expresses communicative intention in a cooperative and courteous way, or, to mitigate utterances in order to maintain the balance of the interaction. The study is empirically founded on a corpus of verbal interactions among university students, collected for the larger project, "The Verbal Interaction of University Students of Chile and Argentina" of the program "The Spanish of Chile and Argentina" (ECLAR), a co-project of Catholic University of Chile and The National University of La Plata, Argentina.)
