%X La presente investigaci車n es el resultado de un estudio ac迆stico y experimental de emisiones con dos o m芍s s赤labas acentuadas contiguas,fen車meno conocido con el nombre de ※choque acentual§. Se hace una caracterizaci車n de las siete principales estrategias de resoluci車n de choques acentuales registradas en la literatura (Prieto y otros, 1995; Almeida, 2001) y se procede a analizar la frecuencia de uso de cada una de estas en el castellano hablado en Santiago de Chile. Los resultados corroboran el uso mayoritario de la realizaci車n de un pico tonal 迆nico en contextos de choque acentual anticipado por la teor赤a de los targets tonales (Prieto, 2003) y establecen relaciones no anticipadas entre algunas de las dem芍s estrategias y dos tipos de oraciones con patrones acentuales diferentes. Se espera con esto avanzar no solo en la comprensi車n de este fen車meno en particular, sino tambi谷n en la del acento castellano en general. Se propone, adem芍s, una categorizaci車n de estas estrategias de resoluci車n en miras a facilitar futuras investigaciones sobre el tema. (The following research deals with the intonation of utterances in ChileanSpanish with stress clashes: the presence of two or more successive stressed syllables. In order to do this, and from the perspective of acoustic analysis, an experiment was devised to observe the frequency of use of each of the seven main stress clash management strategies reported in the literature (Prieto et al., 1995; Almeida, 2001). The results support the notion of tonal peaks as targets (Prieto, 2003) and the expected use of a single tonal peak in contexts of stress clash. They also establish some unexpected relationships between certain sets of the aforementioned strategies; as well as between utterances with different prosodic patterns. Based on the results of this investigation, this paper also attempts to propose a tentative categorization of stress clash management strategies in order to improve the current understanding of stress in Spanish and to facilitate future research in this area.)
