%X Block Truncation Coding (BTC) is a streamlined andcompetent application for image compression. Animproved BTC algorithm, namely Enhanced BlockTruncation Coding (EBTC), is presented in thisresearch study. Several gray scale images are used toappraise the coding efficiency and performance of thisproposed algorithm with existing image compressionalgorithm. It is habitually shown that proposedalgorithm give better result. In the EBTC algorithm,here bit plane is encoded to improve the compressionRatio and also improve the image quality. Simulationresults show that bit rate and PSNR of this proposedEBTC are better than BTC as well as the ABTC interms of subject visual quality, and significantlyimproves the compression ratio of BTC.
