%X En este trabajo nos proponemos: a) contribuir a la comprensi¨®n de los discursos religiosos institucionales a partir del an¨¢lisis de la producci¨®n discursiva de la Conferencia Episcopal Argentina (CEA) y b) examinar sus estrategias discursivas en el proceso de transici¨®n a la democracia iniciado en diciembre de 1983. Para ello examinamos su sistema de g¨¦neros discursivos, concentr¨¢ndonos en tres que registran una significativa variaci¨®n cuantitativa: las 'cartas pol¨ªticas' y las 'declaraciones', que son los m¨¢s utilizados entre 1965 y 1983, aunque desaparecen en la etapa abierta en 1984; y los 'comunicados', que dejan de ser un g¨¦nero marginal para convertirse en el m¨¢s recurrente en democracia. La pregunta que nos hacemos es:  implica esta variaci¨®n cuantitativa un cambio cualitativo en las estrategias discursivas del episcopado argentino? Para ello comparamos los tres g¨¦neros de manera sincr¨®nica y diacr¨®nica en ambos per¨ªodos, adoptando la perspectiva de la ling¨¹¨ªstica del texto alemana. Los resultados del an¨¢lisis muestran una reorganizaci¨®n del sistema de g¨¦neros que responde m¨¢s a motivos t¨¢cticos que estrat¨¦gicos, puesto que el 'comunicado' absorbe las propiedades clave de las 'cartas' y las 'declaraciones', adaptando un mismo sistema de creencias a nuevas circunstancias comunicativas, configuradas por la democratizaci¨®n pol¨ªtica del pa¨ªs. The aims of this article are a) to contribute to the comprehension of institutional religious discourse based on the analysis of the documents of the Argentinean Conference of Catholic Bishops (CEA); and b) to examine its discourse strategies during the process of transition towards democracy initiated in December, 1983. In order to do this, we look at the system of discourse genres by focusing on three of them that register a significant quantitative variation: the 'political letter' and the 'declaration', which were the most employed genres between 1965 and 1983, though both disappear in the period beginning in 1984; and the 'communiqu¨¦', which becomes the most employed genre in democracy. Our research question is, does this quantitative variation involve a qualitative change in the discursive strategies used by the Argentinean episcopate? To answer it, we compare the three genres in a synchronic and diachronic way, in both periods, adopting the perspective of German text linguistics.
