Cet emploi est envisag¨¦ par certains pays priv¨¦s de p¨¦trole et de devises, mais l'exigence des moteurs actuels impose, d'une part une connaissance approfondie de ces carburants du point de vue chimique, physicochimique et combustion, d'autre part de r¨¦aliser certains tests moteurs n¨¦cessaires, recens¨¦s dans cet article. Vegetable oils and their derivatives have been used successfully as substitutes for diesel fuel in times of crisis. Such use is being considered by various countries that do not have supplies of oil and hard currency, but the requirements of current engines impose both a thorough understanding of such fuels from the standpoint of their physicochemical and combustion properties and the performing of the different engine tests listed in this article.
