%0 Journal Article %T Economic Growth as a Function of Quality Education: a note on Pakistan¡¯s Experience %A Syed Waqar Hussain %A Asmat Ullah %J Oeconomics of Knowledge %D 2012 %I Saphira Publishing %X Research studies on the role that quality education plays in the economic uplift of a country has proved a positive causal relationship between the efficiency and quality of education of the labour force. It is in terms of quality of education that the very notion of the human capital makes sense. But in most of the developing countries, including Pakistan, in view of their typical socio-political conditions, emphasis is more on quantity rather than quality. As a result social cohesion and productivity two major objectives of national education are lacking. On the contrary, a mutually exclusive stratification in the society is more prominent. Based on the deductions made from the research studies conducted in the developed world, this paper outlines a scheme of guidance which may help improve the quality of education across the board.
