The possible way ofachieving maximum utilization of those resources isapplying data compression on sensor data. Since processingdata consumes less power than transmitting data in wirelessmedium. So it is effective to apply data compression beforetransmitting data for reducing power consumpt ion b y asensor node. In this we propose a LZW data compressionalgorithm particularly suited to be used on availablecommercial nodes of a WSN, where energy, memoryand computational resources are very limited. Sinceprocessing data consumes less power thantransmitting data in wireless medium.
