Virtualization technology (VT)has made this possible with the help of various hypervisorswhich helps to create the virtual machines (VMs). Duringconsolidation there are various parameters that needs to bethrown light into including performance, SLA (Service LevelAgreement), CPU-I/O relation etc. Live migration of VM is thekey to consolidating the servers without stopping them therebywith near-zero downtime for the systems. Excessiveconsolidation causes performance degradation which has severeimpact on the QoS (Quality of Service) of the application that arerunning in that environment. VM allocation and placement arethe main issues in consolidation. The performance- energy tradeoffshave been discussed based on Greedy heuristics. Finally thesimulation and live demonstration results are plotted. %K Data centers %K server consolidation %K live migration %K virtual machines %K single threshold %U http://ijcsn.org/IJCSN-2013/2-2/IJCSN-2013-2-2-62.pdf
