That Art can participate in the formation of a human world is an idea rethought by Hannah Arendt in The Human Condition . If it¡¯s true that appearance in itself is the only way of access to being, art initiates us since it is known for opening a common ground of appearance between the artist and the public. The splendour of works of art contributes to the worldly reality since they are traditionally destined to last in a public place. Some have used Hannah Arendt¡¯s authority to condemn contempory art giving as a pretext it loses itself in momentariness. That means forgetting that art cannot be reduced to handmade : far from presenting itself as an achievement of a certain aim it is on the contrary a manifestation of a beginning. In showing the human capability of beginning something, contemporary art comes from the experience of freedom in the same way as political or ethical action. It also reveals if a work of art is a worldly thing its worth can only be measured by its opening to the public a field of unexpected possibilities that will renew the public¡¯s perception of the world. %K philosophy %K appearance %K philosophie %K apparence %K art %U http://apparences.revues.org/56
