%X Until recent times the music in the city of Ir¨²n (Guip¨²zcoa) drew hardly the interest of researchers. However, different studies have demonstrated in recent years the importance played by music in this Spanish city. This article first focus on the study of the music chapel at the Church of Santa Maria del Juncal, principal ecclesiastical institution in Ir¨²n, since the end of 18th century until 1860, taking into account its composition, the main festivities according to the liturgical calendar, functions of the musical components of the music chapel, etc. and the background of the chapel masters-organists who have held this position between 1780 and 1860, among which stand out Miguel de Balzola, Agust¨ªn Cayetano de Echaide and Juan Antonio Prol. Hasta ¨¦poca bien reciente la m¨²sica en la ciudad guipuzcoana de Ir¨²n apenas hab¨ªa llamado la atenci¨®n de los investigadores. Sin embargo, en los ¨²ltimos tiempos diferentes estudios han demostrado la importancia musical que desempe ¨® la citada ciudad espa ola. En este art¨ªculo se aborda por primera vez el estudio de la capilla musical de la Iglesia de Santa Mar¨ªa del Juncal, principal instituci¨®n eclesi¨¢stica de Ir¨²n, desde finales del siglo XVIII hasta 1860, teniendo en cuenta su composici¨®n, las principales festividades seg¨²n el calendario lit¨²rgico, funciones de los distintos componentes musicales de la capilla, etc. as¨ª como la trayectoria de los primeros maestros de capilla-organistas que ejercieron dicho cargo entre 1780 y 1860, entre los que destacan Miguel de Balzola, Agust¨ªn Cayetano de Echaide y Juan Antonio Prol.
