%X http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1984-9222.2012v4n7p121 O artigo trata da reconstru  o do trabalhismo nos anos finais da ditadura militar no Brasil, quando a sua principal lideran a viva, Leonel Brizola, investiu na reestrutura  o do PTB e no projeto de torn¨¢-lo uma alternativa partid¨¢ria na transi  o pol¨ªtica brasileira. Intentando reunir os trabalhistas, este processo tamb¨¦m contou com o engajamento de militantes, intelectuais e dirigentes pol¨ªticos que possu¨ªam trajet¨®rias distintas, ¨¤s vezes opostas. Esta pluralidade se coadunava com os novos sinais emitidos pelo movimento. Se, por um lado, ele mantinha as tradi  es do pr¨¦-64, o mesmo procurou se reinventar, incorporando o socialismo e novas tem¨¢ticas socioculturais ao seu programa pol¨ªtico. A partir do conceito de Gilberto Velho ¨C metamorfose ¨C, procuro analisar como o novo trabalhismo e a sua mais importante figura p¨²blica, Leonel Brizola, realizaram esta travessia: transformar-se, mantendo, todavia, a sua ess¨ºncia. The time of crossing: reinventing the brizolismo and the trabalhismo Abstract The article examines the reconstruction of trabalhismo in the final years of military dictatorship in Brazil, when Leonel Brizola invested in restructuring the PTB, to make it a political alternative in the Brazilian transition. Rearticulating supporters, this process also included the engagement of activists, intellectuals and political leaders who had different paths, sometimes opposite. This diversity was combined with the new signs posted by the movement. If, on the one hand, he kept the traditions of before 1964, it sought to reinvent itself, incorporating democratic socialism and the new themes to his political program. From the concept of Gilberto Velho - metamorphosis - I try to analyze how new labour and its most important public figure, carried out this passage: change while maintaing its essence.
