%X This paper seeks to survey and analyse the linguistic concepts in the work of Ofelia Kovacci (1927-2001). First of all, a summary of her basic grammar concepts and specific aspects of her explorations into the grammar of Spanish is presented. Then, a brief description of her work on norm and speech is included, alongside her main ideas on the tensions between tradition and innovation, language unity and diversity. The final section is a review of some of the texts that illustrate Kovacci¡¯s work on language learning and the teaching of grammar. The section ends with an analysis of Propuesta acerca de los Contenidos B¨¢sicos Comunes: Lengua (1996), a text that is quite unknown among Kovacci¡¯s works.
