%X El Programa Educa a tu hijo est芍 dirigido a las familias con ni os y ni as de 0 a 6 a os. Su objetivo fundamental es contribuir al cumplimiento exitoso de esa gran responsabilidad que significa su educaci車n. Ha sido generalizado desde 1992 en todo el pa赤s, con amplia participaci車n comunitaria. En 谷l se ofrecen orientaciones a los padres para el desarrollo de sus hijos, la formaci車n de valores y el cuidado de la salud, la nutrici車n y la prevenci車n de accidentes. Sin embargo, existe la necesidad de incrementar los conocimientos sobre salud bucal infantil en la familia como c谷lula fundamental de la sociedad, para la prevenci車n de las enfermedades bucales y el control de los factores de riesgo asociados. Es la mujer la que lleva el rol educativo fundamental, pues es quien generalmente mantiene un mayor acercamiento al ni o en estos primeros a os de vida. Se realiz車 una revisi車n bibliogr芍fica a partir del an芍lisis documental de programas y art赤culos relacionados con la educaci車n infantil y la salud bucal. Se determinaron algunas consideraciones a tener en cuenta para el perfeccionamiento y actualizaci車n de los programas vigentes, haciendo 谷nfasis en la importancia de educar y preparar a la mujer en temas de salud bucal infantil para el momento de la maternidad. The program Educate your child is directed to family with children aged 0-6 years. Its main objective is contributing to the successful outcome of that enormous responsibility the children's education is. It has been generalized since 1992 around the country, with wide community participation. In that program they offer orientation to parents for the development of their children, their value formation and health care, nutrition and accident prevention. Nonetheless, there is still the necessity of increasing knowledge on infantile oral health in the family as a main cell of the society, to prevent the oral diseases and control the associated risk facts. It is the woman who plays the main educative role, because she is the one who is nearer to the children in these first years of life. We made a bibliographic review starting from a documental analysis of programs and articles related with infantile education and oral health. We make some considerations that have to be taken into account for bettering and updating the current programs, making emphasis in the importance of educating and preparing women in infantile oral health for the moment of motherhood.
