%X La gonartrosis afecta a un elevado n¨²mero de pacientes, y los que la padecen son enfermos cr¨®nicos, con caracter¨ªsticas especiales por el dolor y depresi¨®n como consecuencia de la misma. La magnetoterapia, aunque ha sido utilizada para diversas afecciones reum¨¢ticas, no se ha empleado en la gonartrosis asociada a ejercicios terap¨¦uticos, por lo que se realiz¨® un estudio explicativo, experimental, tipo ensayo cl¨ªnico terap¨¦utico para comprobar la eficacia de los imanes permanentes asociados al ejercicio, en pacientes con gonartrosis en el Hospital Militar Docente Dr. Mario Mu oz Monroy, de Matanzas. Se conformaron dos grupos con 42 pacientes, uno experimental (imanes y ejercicios) y otro de control, donde se emple¨® el tratamiento convencional. Se evalu¨® el dolor a trav¨¦s del Test de Likert, la capacidad funcional por el de Waddell, as¨ª como la fuerza muscular y la amplitud articular, mediante la goniometr¨ªa. Al culminar los tratamientos se realiz¨® una evaluaci¨®n final en ambos grupos de estudio, comprob¨¢ndose que la mayor¨ªa de los pacientes alcanzaron resultados entre excelente y bueno, avalados por la disminuci¨®n del dolor, el aumento del arco articular y de la fuerza muscular, as¨ª como la mejor¨ªa de la discapacidad que presentaban al inicio, haciendo una contrastaci¨®n porcentual en ambos grupos de estudio. Gonarthrosis affects a high number of patients, and those who suffer it are chronic patients, with special characteristics because of the pain and depression experienced in consequence. Magnetotherapy, although it has been used against several rheumatic diseases, has not been used in gonartrosis associated to therapeutic exercises. So, we carried out an explicative, experimental, clinico-therapeutical trial-type study, to verify the efficacy of the permanent magnets associated to exercising, in patients with gonartrosis in the Teaching Military Hospital Dr. Mario Mu oz Monroy, of Matanzas. Two groups with 42 patients were formed, one experimental (magnets and exercises) and a control one, where the conventional treatment was used. We evaluated pain using the Test of Likert, the functional capacity using the Waddell one, and also the muscular strength and the join amplitude using goniometry. When the treatment was finished we made a final assessment in both groups, verifying that most of the patients had results between excellent and good, shown for pain decreasing, increasing of the join arc and the muscular strength, and also for the improvement of the disability they presented at the beginning, making a percentual correlation in both groups.
