%X La implantaci車n se define como la maniobra quir迆rgica destinada a insertar o introducir un tejido, un 車rgano o un material, denominado implante en los tejidos de la cavidad bucal. El implante dentario se corresponde con esta definici車n, y su finalidad es la rehabilitaci車n prot谷sica. En los 迆ltimos a os, la est谷tica ha jugado un papel fundamental en el 谷xito de la periodoncia y la implantolog赤a. La cirug赤a mucogingival incluye procedimientos quir迆rgicos dise ados para corregir defectos en la morfolog赤a, posici車n y dimensiones de la enc赤a alrededor del diente y de un implante. Aumentar la cantidad de tejido queratinizado periimplantario es uno de los objetivos de estos procedimientos encaminado a limitar las periimplantitis y, por ende, hacer m芍s duradero el implante. Este art赤culo presenta el reporte del caso de una paciente de 54 a os de edad, desdentada total superior e inferior y portadora de pr車tesis total acr赤lica. La paciente acudi車 a la interconsulta multidisciplinaria de Implantolog赤a de la Cl赤nica Estomatol車gica Docente III Congreso del PCC, de la ciudad de Matanzas, remitida del servicio de atenci車n primaria por presentar inestabilidad prot谷sica inferior por atrofia alveolar, escaso tejido queratinizado en los rebordes desdentados, y que requer赤a se valorada para colocar implantes, y posteriormente rehabilitar con una sobredentadura. Se determin車 despu谷s de implantarla cubrir los implantes con autoinjertos libres de tejido conectivo y epitelio. Se presenta el tratamiento realizado y la evoluci車n del caso mediante seguimiento cl赤nico en su primera etapa. The implantation is defined as the surgical treatment directed to insert or introduce a tissue, an organ, or a material, named implant, in the tissues of the oral cavity. The dental implant corresponds with this definition and its goal is the prosthetic rehabilitation. In the last years, the aesthetic has played a great role in the success of periodontics and implantology. The mucous-gingival surgery includes surgical procedures designed to correct defects in the gingival morphology, position and dimensions around the tooth and an implant. To increase the quantity of the keratinized perimplantar tissue is one of the objectives of these procedures directed to limit the periimplantitis and to make the implant more long-lasting. This article presents the report of the case of a patient, aged 54 years old, superior and inferior totally edentulous, and carrying a total acrylic prosthesis.
