%X I dotari delle regine del regno italico fra IX e X secolo furono molto cospicui se messi a confronto con quelli che ricevevano nel medesimo periodo le mogli dei re altrove in Europa. Tale loro peculiarit¨¤, che raggiunge la sua espressione massima con il dotario di Adelaide, moglie di Lotario prima e di Ottone I poi, ¨¨ stata indagata nei diversi contributi di questa sezione sulla base di un questionario specifico, volto a localizzare i beni, a determinarne l¡¯appartenenza o meno al fisco regio, a comprendere le eventuali finalit¨¤ strategiche sottese alla creazione di cos¨¬ larghe riserve di beni fondiari. L¡¯insieme delle ricerche ha reso evidente che, nel contesto del regno italico ma anche del regno di Germania, i dotari furono uno strumento importante della strategia di affermazione del potere regio nel contesto post-carolingio, dato che consentivano ai re di crearsi una sorta di riserva di beni, sempre di origine fiscale, che venivano sottratti cos¨¬ a una sempre possibile appropriazione da parte delle alte aristocrazie. The dowries of the queens of the Italic Kingdom in ninth and tenth centuries were very conspicuous when compared to those that in the same period received the wives of kings elsewhere in Europe. This peculiarity, which reaches its maximum expression with the dowry of Adelaide, wife first of Lothair and later of Otto I, was investigated in several contributions of this section on the basis of a questionnaire specifically designed to locate assets, to determine their belonging or not to the royal heritage, to understand any strategic purpose underlying the creation of such large reserves of land assets. This set of researches has made clear that, in the context of the Italic Kingdom but also the Kingdom of Germany, the dowries were an important strategy statement of royal power in the post-Carolingian context, as they allowed kings to create a kind of reserve assets, always of fiscal origin, which were so rescued to an always possible appropriation by the high aristocracy.
