%0 Journal Article %T The Impact of Tourism on Economic Performance: The Case of Turkey %A Muhittin Kaplan %A Tuncay Celik %J The International Journal of Applied Economics and Finance %D 2008 %I Asian Network for Scientific Information %X This study examines the relationship between tourism expansion and economic performance in Turkey over the period of 1963-2006. Empirical analysis carried out employing the VAR procedure indicates the presence of one cointegrating vector among real output, real tourism receipts and real effective exchange rate and tourism has a long-run effect on output.
