%X Se entender¨¢ como "campa a negativa" la que, m¨¢s que ocuparse de remarcar las virtudes de un candidato, apunta a resaltar los defectos del adversario. En este caso, un candidato no realza sus propias virtudes, sino que destaca lo negativo del oponente. Se trata de socavar la reputaci¨®n de un candidato u opci¨®n pol¨ªtica, a trav¨¦s de evocar im¨¢genes y argumentos que degraden la percepci¨®n que tengan los votantes respecto del rival. M¨¢s all¨¢ de toda valoraci¨®n ¨¦tica, son instrumentos importantes para el debate pol¨ªtico. El objetivo del presente ensayo es exponer la utilidad de este recurso, su regulaci¨®n y porqu¨¦ se han proscrito en M¨¦xico. Al final, se argumentar¨¢ que el problema de fondo es la falta de rendici¨®n de cuentas, pues hace partidos poco competitivos y altamente vulnerables a las t¨¢cticas de ataque. It shall be understood as "negative campaign" which rather than deal with remarking the virtues of a candidate, aims to highlight the shortcomings of the adversary. In this case, a candidate does not enhance their virtues but the negative points of the opponent. This is undermining the reputation of a candidate or political choice, through evoking images and arguments that degrade the perception of voters forming of their rival. Beyond any ethical evaluation are important tools for political debate. The aim of this essay is to present the usefulness of this remedy, and its regulation and why it has been outlawed in Mexico. In the end it will be argued that the fundamental problem is the lack of accountability, it makes the political parties less competitive and highly vulnerable to attack tactics.
