%X For in-service liquid filled electric apparatus,sampling of the liquid dielectric provides a methodto determine the condition of the solid and liquidinsulation as well as the operating condition of theapparatus without opening or de-energizing theapparatus. This is especially important in thepresent utility climate, as equipment outages for outof-service testing has become very limited.Sampling provides a means to check the condition ofoil in storage whether it be new or used, todetermine if it complies with specifications.Sampling can also help to determine:1) If accidental mixing of different dielectric liquidshas taken place;2) If the method of transportation contaminated thedielectric Liquid; and3) If the handling equipment to transfer thedielectric liquid contaminated the product.
