%X Como parte de la formaci¨®n acad¨¦mica de postgrado se desarrollan en el Instituto de Medicina Tropical Pedro Kour¨ª, las maestr¨ªas de Infectolog¨ªa y Enfermedades Tropicales y Parasitolog¨ªa. El reto fundamental en este inicio de siglo en cuanto a la Educaci¨®n Superior, es mejorar sustancialmente la calidad y pertinencia social de la misma, donde la relaci¨®n con el mundo del trabajo, demanda conocimientos y destrezas en constante renovaci¨®n y evoluci¨®n. Motivados en este tema, realizamos una investigaci¨®n de corte pedag¨®gico, con el objetivo de demostrar la importancia de que los matriculados en estas maestr¨ªas, sean profesionales que su trabajo est¨¦ directamente relacionado con estas disciplinas; de manera que los temas estudiados y aprendidos, sean de gran utilidad por su actualidad y profundidad, con vistas a su futuro desempe o cient¨ªfico y docente; se determina adem¨¢s su relaci¨®n con variables sociodemogr¨¢ficas predeterminadas como edad, sexo, etc¨¦tera. En el trabajo, se muestra c¨®mo la gran mayor¨ªa de los matriculados en dichas maestr¨ªas escogi¨® estudiar en ellas por tener gran aplicaci¨®n en los diferentes contenidos de trabajo que los mismos desempe an, por lo que va a ser ¨²til para la sociedad que la totalidad de los mismos son m¨¦dicos y todos los estudiantes cubanos son especialistas o residentes; en edades comprendidas entre 35 y 50 a os de edad; la mayor¨ªa son cubanos y estas maestr¨ªas son pertinentes desde el punto de vista social. ABSTRACT As part of the postgraduate education activities, two Master's Degree Courses are developed at the Pedro Kour¨ª Tropical Medicine Institute: one of them on Infectology and Tropical Diseases, and the other on Parasitology. The main challenge for higher education, at the beginning of this century, is to substantially improve its quality and its social pertinence, considering that its relationship with the working world demands constant renovation and evolution of both knowledge and skills. This issue motivated us to conduct this investigation from a teaching point of view, with the aim of demonstrating how important it is that students taking this type of courses be professionals whose work is directly related to these disciplines, so that topics studies and learned become more useful, taking into consideration the update and depth levels with which these courses are offered; and that these topics allow students to carry out a better scientific and teaching performance in the future as well.
