To sustain competiveness SMEs have to overcome the challenges of growth in ever more competitive markets. This requires to develop ¡°dynamic capabilities¡± to integrate new knowledge, technology and competencies for qualitative and ustainable growth. Based on an analysis of selected challenges of growth, this paper presents the methodology 'Learning to Grow', which has been successfully implemented in German SMEs and is being transferred to Brazil. The first results of its application in Santa Catarina State are reported in this paper.
