Objective: this study is based on a qualitative research, in order to analyze and support the basic information transmitted by a folder provided to this population and the records shown by the scientific literature on aging and quality of life in Brazil. Method: the database Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online) was used. Only articles relating to education and health promotion for the elderly were selected, and there were 10 articles.There was no need to be approved by an ethics committee. Results: among the issues the folder, thoseRevista Eletr nica Gest o & Sa¨²deRevista Eletr nica Gest o & Sa¨²de Vol.02, No. 01, Ano 2011 p. 249-264are reasons in the literature include physical exercise, participate in groups of living, nutrition care, accident prevention and health service demand for vaccination. On the other hand, no articles were found that deal with sexuality among the elderly and practices that keep the brain up to date.
