%X Introducci車n: las urgencias estomatol車gicas son enfermedades o complicaciones que se presentan s迆bitamente, causan da o inmediato al 車rgano dentario o a las estructuras adyacentes y pueden comprometer la salud y estabilidad del paciente. Objetivo: caracterizar las urgencias estomatol車gicas atendidas en la cl赤nica "Pedro Celestino Aguilera Gonz芍lez". Material y M谷todos: la muestra estuvo formada por los 330 pacientes, quienes acudieron al servicio de urgencias estomatol車gicas en busca de atenci車n inmediata durante el mes de mayo del 2010. Las variables estudiadas fueron edad, g谷nero, pertenencia a grupos priorizados y 芍rea de salud, horario de la consulta y tipo de consulta. Las fuentes de informaci車n fueron las historias cl赤nicas de los pacientes y el libro de pacientes del Centro. Resultados: entre los pacientes atendidos predomin車 el grupo de edades entre 35 a 59 a os, el g谷nero femenino y pacientes pertenecientes a grupos no priorizados. En relaci車n con grupos priorizados fueron m芍s frecuentes los adultos j車venes, ni os y adolescentes, pacientes pertenecientes al 芍rea de salud, los que acuden por primera vez, y por 迆ltimo los que son atendidos en la ma ana con preferencia a otros horarios. Conclusiones: la utilizaci車n del servicio se caracteriz車 por una mayor赤a de casos atendidos pertenecientes al 芍rea de salud y en el horario diurno del servicio. Introduction: stomatological urgencies are sicknesses or complications which appear suddenly, damaging immediately the dental organ or its adjacent structures and compromising the patient health and stability. Objective: to characterized the use of the urgency assistance in the Clinic "Pedro Celestino Aguilera Gonz芍lez". Materials and Methods: the sample was culled from 330 patients who assisted to the urgency room in need immediate attention on the period time previously mentioned. The studied variables were age, sex, belonging to groups with certain priority, belonging to health area, schedule of the consult and type of consult. The source of information was the profile of the patients and the patient∩s book from the Clinic. A database using the Excel program was created. The statistic analysis was carried out with the software SPSS version 11.5 Results: among the patients assisted the average age was 35-59 years, the most found sex was feminine belonging to groups without priority, youngsters, children, those patients form the health area, and who come to the clinic for the first time, and at last, those who are assisted in the mornings.
