De carri¨¨rekansen van Jean en Isaac Claude in de Republiek %A David van der Linden %J De Zeventiende Eeuw : Cultuur in de Nederlanden in Interdisciplinair Perspectief %D 2012 %I Utrecht University Library Open Access Journals %X After the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685, over 400 Huguenot ministers made their way to the Dutch Republic in search of a new pulpit. They stood a good chance, because the Huguenot exodus resulted in a corresponding demand for French preachers, while Dutch authorities offered financial support. Yet a surplus of ministers also meant fierce competition over positions.
