%0 Journal Article %T Social Responsibility and Profitability: How can Noridan have it both? %A Yeongsu Kim %J Interdisciplinary Journal of Research in Business %D 2011 %I Center for Research Promotion %X This is a Case about Noridan that is a Social enterprise in South Korea. Noridan is a unique institute whose major businesses are Performance, Education and Design. What is especially unique to other performance groups or Social enterprise is that Noridan have made their instrument by using junks and garbage. However, since the Government enacted the Social enterprise fostering law, Noridan faced many huddles and limitations as a Social enterprise. The Government forced many regulations such as minimum level of employment and wages just for keep the title "Social Enterprise". Financial problem and high turnover rates were also a severe problem for Noridan. Moreover, Noridan has to make a decision whether diversify the design department, that is the generates profit, or just keep it as a department within the company by not impair their reputation as a social enterprise.
