%X Se realiz車 un estudio observacional descriptivo de corte transversal con el objetivo de determinar el comportamiento de la Hipertensi車n Arterial y la Obesidad en personas mayores de 60 a os pertenecientes a la poblaci車n del barrio Monse or Brice o del municipio C芍rdenas, Estado T芍chira, Venezuela. En el per赤odo de enero del 2006 a febrero del 2007. El universo de estudio lo constituyeron 152 personas. Las variables descriptivas se expresaron en porcientos y para la comparaci車n de dos variables se utiliz車 el m谷todo estad赤stico de Chi cuadrado con un nivel de significaci車n de 0.05. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron 29.61 % con cifras de prehipertensi車n y 58.55 % de las personas con hipertensi車n arterial; en estas predomin車 el normopeso con 26.97 %. Predominaron las personas con riesgo, seg迆n la circunferencia de la cintura y con hipertensi車n arterial, no comport芍ndose as赤 con el Indice Cintura Cadera. An Observational descriptive study of cross section was made, with the objective of establishing Arterial Hypertension and obesity behaviour in groups of persons over 60 years old who live in Monsignor Brice o, Cardenas Municipality, T芍chira State, Venezuela. In the period from January 2006 to February 2007. The object of study was designed to investigate 152 persons. The descriptive variables were given in percents. Chi Square statistic method was used to compare two variables with a 0.05 margin of error. Results from this study have shown a 29.61 % of Pre-High Blood Pressure and a 58.55 % of Arterial Hypertension persons. On examination there is evidence that normal weight individuals are most likely with High Blood Pressure of 26.97 %. There were also a significant amount of persons with rich of suffering hypertension according to their waist circumference and those with High Blood Pressure; however wait hip index was not relevant.
