%X In the great family of francophone literatures, Acadian literature occupies a singular position. Long dominated by the ¡® Maillet phenomenon¡¯ of Antonine Maillet, the only Acadian to have received the Priz Goncourt, which she received for her novel P¨¦lagie-la-Charette in 1979, a deeper analysis shows the complexities of this literature, hesitating constantly between a respect for a certain historical tradition and the necessity to go beyond this. More than ever, Acadianit¨¦ (Acadianness) and Am¨¦ricanit¨¦ (Americanness) meet before being subtly intermingled. The case of the writers who are members of the Association Acadienne des Artistes Professionel(le)s du Nouveau Brunswick appears, from this point of view, to provide an excellent case study and a good reflection of a literary Acadia lost more than ever between tradition and modernism at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
