%X Building on three texts of Espriu 每 "Primera hist辰ria d＊Esther" [The Story of Esther] (1947每48), "Sota la fredor parada d＊aquests ulls" [Under the still coolness of these eyes] (1972每76), and "El doctor Rip" [Doctor Rip] (1931/1972每73] 每 facts and arguments are put forward concerning the writer's contribution to the Catalan language. Special attention is drawn to the fact that, even though Espriu remained true to the Fabrian codification, he distanced himself from the version the Noucentisme movement had produced.
