%0 Journal Article %T Community Based Approach to Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Towards Sustainable Livelihood: Ten Years Experiences From PMPB Kupang %A Yulius Nakmofa %A Jonatan Lassa %J The Interdisciplinary Journal of NTT Development Studies %D 2009 %I %X Community based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) has been ¡°highly¡± promoted by many including policy makers and academics circles during the last few years in Indonesia. The multi-disciplinary setting such as the annual national conference/symposium on CBDRR during the last five years in Indonesia as organised by Indonesian Society for Disaster Management (MPBI) Jakarta has played roles in promotingthe approach of CBDRR in reducing disaster risk and adaptation of climate change. This paper shares the experiences of PMPB Kupang, during the last tens years of doing CBDRR in West Timor. An indepthelaboration of Manu Model is also presented in this paper. Manu Model is indeed a success CBDRR model that genuinely developed by the community in a central district of West Timor that laterly found by PMPB and to some degree the model has been up scaled by PMPB Kupang to wider flood prone communties in West Timor.
